Element Card Project

1. Students are assigned two elements from the Periodic Table.

2. Use the Internet to research your assigned elements.  Find the following information on your element, and BOLD the list of information (items a-k below); put your answers in regular (Non-bold) font (minimum 12 point). Help from

3. Mrs. Davis

    1. Element name
    2. Chemical symbol
    3. Atomic number
    4. Atomic mass
    5. Who discovered the element?  (if you’re certain that it’s not attributable to one person, state the best explanation)
    6. When was your element discovered?
    7. Solid, liquid, or gas at room temperature and normal pressure
    8. Classified as a metal, non-metal or semi-metal
    9. Name of family to which it belongs (specify the number and name)
    10. Three important characteristics of the element
    11. Three important uses of the element
    12. Include at least one picture

4. Design your layout so that both elements fit onto one 8½ x 11 page.  Heading in upper right corner. (Help from Mrs. Davis.)  List the information on your element card (be creative with word art, fonts, image, colors, etc.)

6. Print out a rough draft first.  Proof read it and make any needed changes.  When perfect, printout a colored final copy.
